Heart attack is not something to be taken lightly. Actually, heart attacks are the leading cause of death in the United States. The percent is even higher than cancer related deaths. In 2008, 25% of people died of heart attacks, that is 1 in every 4.


The most common type of heart attack is actually coronary heart disease, which affects men more than women. Annually, 785,000 Americans have a coronary effect for the first time and 470, 000 who have already had one are in danger of one more.


It was reported by the Center for Disease and Prevention that high blood pressure, smoking and high cholesterol are the three major cause of heart attack. In addition, being overweight, physical inactivity, excessive alcohol intake and diabetes are also major cause for heart attacks.
