An officer of the Nigerian army has been sentenced to death for the act of killing a Boko Haram terrorist.

 

This sentence was ordered by the Army General Court Martial in Borno where the soldier was given a death sentence for killing a suspected Boko Haram terrorist.

 

According to reports, Lance Corporal Hillary Joel was stated to have carried out the murder during a cordon and search operation by the army in Damboa LGA of Borno State.

He reportedly set the suspect ablaze, leading to his death by fire.

Others who faced the court martial with him were handed different sanctions, including jail terms and demotions.
