Some United’s fans will be happy, while some will be sad as Manchester United released Zlatan Ibrahimovic at the expiration of his contract.
The
Swedish striker suffered a cruciate ligament injury in United’s Europa
League quarter-final win over Anderlecht in April and missed the final
10 matches of the season.
Despite having undergone successful surgery, it is expected to take moths before Ibrahimovic will be in a position to return to action.
Mourinho has subsequently decided against waiting for the veteran attacker to recover, with the club looking for a replacement in the summer transfer window.
Ibrahimovic’s agent Mino Raiola has suggested that the Swede is keen to remain in the Premier League, opening the door to the former Barcelona man joining one of United’s rivals.
