Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he won’t be playing in the third-place match at the Fifa Confederations Cup following the birth of his twin sons.
Ronaldo and Portugal were eliminated from the tournament on Wednesday, going down 3-0 to Chile on penalties after playing a 0-0 draw in Kazan.
The 32-year-old forward was left disappointed by his side’s failure
to make the final, and took the time to confirm the birth of his two
boys and that he would sit out the third place play-off on Sunday, Goal writes.
“Unfortunately, we have not been able to achieve the main sporting objective that we wanted, but I am sure we will continue to give joy to the Portuguese. “The president of the Portuguese Football Federation and the national team have today had an attitude that has touched me and I will not forget.
“I’m very happy to finally be with my children for the first time.”
Ronaldo’s first son, Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. – also by a surrogate mother – turned seven earlier this month as the Portuguese sees his brood expand.
