The suspect Augustin, took photographs of luxury cars packed in elegant areas of the city and posted the pictures on OLX, putting on a show to “offer” the cars at low rates and with a provision to accept advance payments from intending customers.

Augustin went to India on a 15-day travel visa. He and his gang snapped pictures of top of the line cars parked outside shopping centers and hotels and uploaded the pictures on OLX and as a way of baiting unsuspecting clients, they offered to sell the cars at comparably lower prices.

A local resident was also apprehended in association with the fraud case. Police booked 35-year-old Jagadish Kumar, for actuating a SIM card with copy address given by Augustin.

Augustin used many duplicate addresses to open bank accounts. He’d given a similar photograph to all manages an account with various names.

At the point when clients called Augustin to enquire about the car deal, he would tell a lie and disclose to them he was an international student who had just graduated and was returning to his country and would like to dispose his vehicle before he travels.

Clients who believed his story promptly transfer advance money into his account. When he got the installment, Augustin would withdraw the money and deactivate his SIM card.
